As we continue to mourn the passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, here is an update on activity you will see over the weekend, In the County and in the Town.
Saturday 10th September
Flags at The Town Hall and St John the Baptist.
Currently the flags are at half-mast, all flags will be raised at 11am on Saturday to coincide with the Proclamation of King Charles III at St James’ Palace. They will be lowered again at 1pm on Sunday following the ‘County’ Proclamation and remain lowered until after the State Funeral of Her Majesty.
Sunday 11th September
At 11:00 AM on Sunday Morning
Reverend Stephanie will hold a service at St John the Baptist Church. A service for Prayers for Her Majesty, and the Royal family. All are welcome.
The Mayor of Bishop’s Castle, Cllr Josh Dickin. Alongside Unitary Councillor, Cllr Ruth Houghton represent the Council and Town at the County Proclamation of King Charles III taking place at 1pm on Sunday at The Bandstand, The Quarry in Shrewsbury. The County Proclamation will be presided over by the High Sheriff of Shropshire. Members of the public are welcome to attend, but please note parking will be limited.
The Mayor will then return to the Town for the following event.
Having been handed a ‘Proclamation Scroll’ at the County Proclamation. The Mayor will then read the Proclamation of King Charles III at to the Townsfolk at The Lychgate, St John the Baptist Church at 4pm on Sunday, followed by the national Anthem.
In addition, The Mayor has placed flowers at the War Memorial at St Johns. And there are books of condolence at both the church and Town Hall.
