The Town Council has decided not to hold the April meeting, if the May meeting is to go ahead it will be publicised.
The Town Council Office will be closed to visitors, however phone calls and emails will be answered during normal office hours i.e. 9.30am – 5pm.
If you wish to volunteer to assist with delivering groceries, collecting prescriptions or dog walking during these difficult times please email the Town Clerk on firstname.lastname@example.org.
The council consists of 12 councillors, all elected every 4 years. The mayor is a councillor elected annually by the members of the council. The mayor’s role is to steer the council, chair its meetings and wear the regalia of the office on formal occasions. The council meets every four weeks in the council chamber of the Town Hall.

Alistair Evans for the supply of timer for the beacon
Clive Jones for his assistance in the preparation and restoration of the area for the beacon.
John Bloor for his assistance in the delivery of the timber to the playing fields.
Thanks, must also go to the Fire Service personnel for all their assistance throughout the day also Mike Higgins for his rendition on the bugle at the beacon.
On a safety note the area where the beacon was located will be restored shortly but, in the meantime, could users of the area take care. If anyone wishes to have the half burned timber please feel free to remove.

The Civic Awards presentation on 23rd November was a lovely relaxed evening. Awards were given to John Geach for the Bell Ringers for their years of dedicated service, Glyn Roberts for the P3 group for their hard work on rights of way, and Keith Whiddon for the Michaelmas Fair Committee for successfully reinvigorating the Michaelmas Fair.
Allotment Awards were given to Mrs and Mrs Wood for the best overall plot, the Isherwood family for the best family plot, and Sarah Halliday for the most environmentally friendly plot. This year the best overall plot winner also received a silver cup to keep for a year!
After the ceremony in the council chamber, those present made their way downstairs to the market hall where there was a wonderful selection of refreshments, wines, and other beverages. A pleasant evening was had by all!

Allotment plots available to rent in Bishop’s Castle!
Bishop’s Castle has a thriving allotment community who garden the Council owned plots on the Love Lane / Business Park site. Right now, there are some vacant plots, due to a recent retirement but also because the Council has just finished creating some new plots for allotments on the former Bike Track site. The Annual Rent is very reasonable, currently at £50 for a full sized plot measuring approximately 15 by 11 metres, giving you a generous 165 square metres. Half sized plots are currently £30 per annum, quarter sized plots are £15. Prices are for Bishop’s Castle parish residents.
Plot holders sign a Tenancy Agreement, and are asked to garden organically. There is an active Allotment Society formed by the plot holders with a committee drawn from members and for a modest membership fee you are entitled to a share of the manure and other products the Society buys in.
There are two full sized plots and six half sized plots available.
